Adjustable Amp Charger
Adjustable Amp chargers can be adjusted or derated to accommodate your available electrical capacity, reducing the need for electrical upgrades. Your contractor can assess the maximum amperage your dedicated breaker can handle and can adjust the charger amperage accordingly during installation. This may also provide a “future proof” option if you later wish to upgrade your electrical infrastructure should you desire a higher charge rate in the future. An EV charger installed in a garage or driveway delivers a number of advantages, such as faster charging, convenience, wireless monitoring, smart home integration, and added home value. The Schumacher SEV1600P1450 NEMA 14-50 240V 40A Level 2 EV Wall Charger is a smart and easy way to incorporate home EV charging into any home.
The SEV16001450 is compatible with most North American electric vehicles thanks to its SAE-J1772 (universal) connector. However, Tesla® vehicles will require an adapter (sold separately). The charger is extremely simple to use. Just plug the unit’s charging gun into the EV charging port and charging is automatic. Built-in Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® allows users to monitor and schedule charging through the SchuPower™ app.
With a NEMA 14-50 plug, the SEV1600P1450 can utilize any NEMA 14-50 outlet for power. A licensed electrician can set the SEV1600P1450’s configurable current up to 40A for plug-in use (50A if hardwired), which charges up to eight times faster than a standard Level 1 charger.
A weather-resistant housing enables the charger to be installed inside or outside, and a 25-foot charging cable adds flexibility, allowing homeowners to choose from multiple locations for installation while still easily reaching their EV. The unit’s charging gun features an ergonomic design, and an interchangeable dock lets users dock the charging gun on either side of the unit. To minimize the space required by the unit, it features a low-profile design and built-in cord management.
The Schumacher SEV1600P1450 Level 2 EV Wall Charger must be installed by a licensed electrician. Any changes to the wall charger’s electrical settings must also be made by a licensed electrician.
